KER: Principles of Bone Development in Horses

"Few animals are as precocious as the horse. Within 20 minutes of birth a foal may stand, and within hours can be ready to run at speeds no human athlete will ever achieve. At this stage of life, even with this exceptionally early development, horses have only 17% of their mature bone mineral content, but they also have only 10% of their ultimate body weight." That's the start of a really interesting article from Kentucky Equine Nutrition that covers bone development and growth rate in foals. ...read more

Wiittala Theodor

Distinct blood now available in US
Wiittala Theodor is a German-bred, 2012 chestnut stallion by Royal Floggensee out of the dam Desperata, who is by the GP dressage stallion Dream of Heidelberg II, and out of Kiara III, by the GP dressage stallion Loutano I/Farnese, that leads in to the successful Holstein stud book mare line #2978.

Following his arrival to the USA mid-2017, Wiittala Theodor became licensed and registered for breeding with the American Warmblood Society & Sporthorse Registry. He was the overall high-score mature horse of the 2017 inspection tour.

In 2018 he became licensed by ISR- Olbenburg NA.

Wiittala Theodor embodies the unique athletic pedigree of his ancestors!
The pedigree list reads like the "who’s who" of successful high performance sport and breeding at international dressage competitions and international GP jumper classes.

His sire, Royal Floggensee, is a son of the magnificent GP dressage stallion Royal Diamond, who is a younger full brother to the GP dressage stallion Rohdiamant by the legendary GP dressage stallion Rubinstein, who originates from one of the most valuable dressage family lines in the world.

The dam sire Dream of Heidelberg II, a successful FEI competitor, is of equal importance. He carries also the valuable Donnerhall genetics in his family. Years ago his sire Donnerschlag migrated to the USA after he influenced the dressage breeding immensely in the various European breeding stud books.

Dream of Heidelberg’s dam line is based on the valuable genetics of the Holstein stud book in combinations with the KWPN stud books.
The stallion Heidelberg is a son of the legendary thoroughbred stallion Ladykiller xx, who had an extraordinary influence in the Holstein stud book breeding program. He sired stallions such as Landgraf, producer of multiple international GP jumpers and the Holstein stallion Lord, who sired the Olympic jumper Livius, etc.

Wiittala Theodor’s great granddam is the mare Synthese, by Farnese.
Synthese is what her name embodies, a synthesis between the valuable thoroughbred elements of the pedigree, with the successful Holstein dam line #2978, which leads to the famous foundation mare Ahne 5922, by Oberlerhrer who lived in the early 1900.

The stallion Farnese is considered to be one of the foundation sires in the Holstein breeding program. Among all relatives to Wiittala Theodor are FEI level jumpers as well as rideable, amateur friendly dressage horses all equipped with the best mind and willingness to perform well.

The line breeding on the stallion Donnerhall, combined with the International successful family of Rubinstein, plus the line breeding on the exclusive Holstein stallion Landgraf, in combination with the thoroughbred stallion Ladykiller xx makes the gene pool of Wiittala Theodor so valuable for the future breeding programs in terms of athletic capability, ride-ability, equipped with a solid mind.

Wiittala Theodor's smooth, supple, and athletic gaits, coupled with an excellent temperament and work ethic guarantee a strong foundation for every Olympic discipline.
