Dressage at Devon Analysis: Sneak Preview

I had a lovely time at the Dressage at Devon breed show 2018, in spite of the rain. What I saw in 2018 were American-bred winners being the rule rather than the exception. Of the horses in breed classes who scored over 80%, three-quarters were US-bred. Of the five top-scoring horses of all the breed classes, four were bred in the US. Quidam Blue is a licensed and approved Hanoverian stallion. Quidam Blue, competed with Canadian Olympian and silver medalist Jill Henselwood up to the highest level (1.60m). Quidam Blue’s pedigree is filled with famous French, Holsteiner and Westphalian jumping bloodlines, including the names Quidam de Revel, Landgraf I, Come On, Cantus, Pilot and Weinberg. His grandsire Quidam de Revel and his maternal grandsire Come On were both successful international show jumpers. Quidam Blue started his show career in 2010 winning the Five-Year-Old Western Canadian Young Horse Championship. The following years he collected many ribbons at shows like the Spruce Meadows Summer Series under his amateur rider Beke Brinkmann, and played his way into the 1.30m. Moving up to the 1.50m level with his rider Jill Henselwood the highlights in his first years were a third place finish as part of the Canadian Team at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Bratislava, a second place at the Wild Card SmartPak Grand Prix, Saugerties and a win in the SynOil Energy Services CSI** Cup at the Royal West in Calgary.
Quidam Blue's first offspring are entering the show ring proving athletic capability with kind and willing temperaments.
