"Marketing is Enthusiasm Transferred ..."

I LOVE this! "Marketing is enthusiasm transferred to the customer." -Gregory Ciotti. Because in my world, it's true. Marketing within the sport horse breeding community is most of what I do. I help stallion owners market their stallions; I design websites, ads, and other marketing pieces; and of course I market my own services. And this is a really great definition of what I do, what stallion owners do, and why we do it. ...read more

Old Data and New Research On Gestation Length

A recent article in the Kentucky Equine Research Equinews library of articles points out new research on what the "normal" length of gestation is for mares - but mares are not known for reading the same book you did. The point of the article is that our expectation of normal - 340 days - was determined over 50 years ago - and only with Thoroughbreds in northern European countries. But pregnancy lengths are different all the time, even for the same mare bred to the same stallion with other obvious factors the same. ...read more

Silver Twist

16.2 h. TB-Trakehner grey, Abdullah -- Good Twist
This talented stallion is a direct descendant of Bonne Nuit through Good Twist, the most successful American Thoroughbred bloodline in the United States in producing world-class jumpers. On the top side, Silver Twist's sire is the most successful Trakehner on this continent: Abdullah, the incredible Canadian-bred stallion, who earned team Gold and individual Silver in the '84 Olympics and is in the Showjumping Hall of Fame. Abdullah produces jumpers, dressage horses, hunters, and three-day eventers. Silver Twist's dam, Star News, was a daughter of Good Twist. Good Twist (who won a record 21 classes for the USET) and Frank Chapot made history in the 1960s and 70s. Close relatives of international caliber on both sides of Silver Twist's pedigree include Gem Twist, Jet Run, Night Spree, Night Lark, Silver Lining, Out Late, Night Owl, Bonte II, Hollandia, Riviera Wonder, Miss Budweiser, and many other Olympic, FEI, Nation's Cup, and Grand Prix horses. Silver Twist was lightly shown as a consequence of a near-fatal injury as a foal. In just four shows, Silver Twist earned top honors as the United States Dressage Federation Sporthorse Breeding Stallion of the Year in 2005. He is approved first premium by the American Warmblood Registry, registered and DNA-verified with the American Trakehner Association (Anglo-Trakehner) division, and registered with the Performance Horse Registry. His lack of a performance career is a consequence of his early skull fractures and the treatment for those, which affected his vision. He has a lifetime nomination to the International Jumper Futurity and the USDF. Silver Twist is an amazing mover, has a correct and powerful jump, and has a sweet, fun-loving personality. His foals are known for beauty, intelligence, rideability, confidence, willingness, bravery, and versatility. His offspring have shown successfully in dressage, hunter breeding in hand (Devon), hunter paces, and jumpers (schooling to AAA shows). Silver Twist has several videos on his Youtube channel, "Silver Twist."
