Dressage at Devon Analysis: Sneak Preview

I had a lovely time at the Dressage at Devon breed show 2018, in spite of the rain. What I saw in 2018 were American-bred winners being the rule rather than the exception. Of the horses in breed classes who scored over 80%, three-quarters were US-bred. Of the five top-scoring horses of all the breed classes, four were bred in the US. My full article, with horse and breeder profiles, will appear soon. Watch my news blog. ...read more

Talisman

IJF winner, Exceptional choice for the Hunter and Jumper Market
Talisman was a standout in the Young Jumper divisions. As a 5-year old, he won the prestigious YJC Eastern League Finals and as a 6-year old he placed 6th in the Championships. Brave in any environment and game to compete, Talisman continued to develop up the ranks and consistently pinned at top venues including Wellington, Kentucky, and the Hamptons.

Talisman’s success is backed by a strong pedigree that foretold his jumping ability. Sire Toulon was a top-level international show jumper under Hubert Bourdy. A standout sire, Toulon also has many offspring competing internationally. Toulon has been ranked in the Top 20 for Show Jumping Sires on the WBFSH Sire Rankings the past few years. At the 2014 World Equestrian Games there were 4 Toulon offspring competing. In the US, we see Toulon offspring competing under top Grand Prix riders such as Laura Kraut, Charlie Jayne, Candice King, and Quinten Judge. Grandsire Heartbreaker was also successful internationally with top placings at shows such as Falterbo, London, and Aachen. From Talisman’s dam, the influential stallions Alexis Z, Alme, and Pilot are added to his genetics. Alexis Z earned 15 wins at S-level, sired 20 licensed stallions, and his offspring have won over 1.3million euro in sport.

Talisman’s foals show his strong influence on type, personality, and consistently inherit his wonderful walk. In 2017, Tallulah T was named the Filly Champion of her ISR/Oldenburg Inspection with an overall score of 8.2. His oldest offspring are proving to be exceptionally easy to start and we’re excited to see them out competing well in the hunter ring.
