Worthy Opponent VE, 16.1 ½ hh, is an imported Hanoverian Stallion with multiple studbook approvals, a successful career through Advanced Level Eventing and versatile offspring successfully competing in Dressage thru PSG, FEI Eventers and Hunter/Jumpers.
Based on pedigree, Worthy Opponent was bred to be a fabulous dressage stallion. With three wonderful gaits, he demonstrated his Dressage abilities with consistent scores in the 70s, however he excelled in eventing, almost always the leader after the dressage phase. He has shown himself to be an extremely versatile stallion, with good jumping form, talent and technique that rivals those bred for the jumper ring. Worthy Opponent was Reserve Champion of his 100-Day Test Stallion Test where he received comments from the judges and test riders on his incredible elasticity, adjustability and rideability. Scoring an impressive 135.2 overall, with five “9’s” for Character, Temperament, Canter, Jumping Aptitude and Ability to Work earning him the High Scoring Hanoverian award as well as the winner of the jumping portion of the test. Rideability coupled with his athleticism took him through a successful three-day eventing career competing to Advanced Level Eventing. Worthy Opponents success in eventing was recognized by the American Hanoverian Society who named him Horse of the Year (HOY) for Intermediate Level Eventing 2014, HOY for Preliminary level for 2010, 2011 HOY Preliminary Reserve, 2013 HOY Intermediate Reserve. Additionally Worthy Opponent was the highest-scoring stallion over fences at both the Hanoverian and Oldenburg N.A. inspections in 2007.
Worthy Opponent is sired by Waikiki a celebrated son of the legendary Weltmeyer. At Waikikis Stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, Germany Waikiki scored a 143.08 for dressage earning him an overall 2nd in dressage and finishing 3rd overall (of 33) proving his ability as both a dressage and jumping stallion.

Worthy Opponent brings a strong damline - his dam, granddam, and great granddam were all States Premium mares. His dam Hoheit earned her States Premium title at the young age of 4, earning 9s in rideability and jumping at her testing. Dam, Hoheit is by the 2002 Trakehner Stallion of the Year Hohenstein (by Caprimond). Hohenstein a popular refining stallion known for improving type and rideability, winner of his stallion performance test and successful to Grand Prix.
Worthy Opponent's foal crops have produced Premium foals and Site Champions out of a variety of mares. He passes along his strong topline, compact back, long legs, strong loin connection and amazing movement as well as his superior temperament and beautiful head and neck. He has proven to refine older style warmblood mares, producing more modern foals in these crosses. He is an excellent choice for Thoroughbred mares passing on his amazing neck in both length and arch, his lovely neck/shoulder connection thereby improving the front ends. Worthy Opponents offspring have been extremely easy to start, with fabulous dispositions and temperaments as well as impeccable movement inheriting his remarkable jumping ability. His oldest offspring are hitting the competition arenas with incredible success in Dressage, Eventing, and some Hunter/Jumpers. Notably, successful 4* eventer, Whiskey Up out of a Lavita Dam, Worthy Aspirations an FEI PSG Dressage mare out of a Don Frederico dam, Wred Baron a 09 Oldenburg Gelding competing in Dressage to PSG.
